A highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Luis Montalván never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. After returning home from combat, however, his physical wounds and crippling post-traumatic stress disorder began to take their toll. He wondered if he would ever recover.
Then Luis met Tuesday, a sensitive golden retriever trained to assist people with disabilities. Tuesday had lived among prisoners and at a home for troubled boys, and he found it difficult to trust in or connect with a human being–until Luis.

About the Author
LUIS CARLOS MONTALVÁN is an international award-winning New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and advocate. TUESDAY is his beloved service dog and recipient of the 2013-14 American Kennel Club Award for Canine Excellence.
A 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Captain Montalván served multiple tours abroad and was decorated with numerous awards including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge. In 2007, Montalván honorably departed the military and in 2010 completed a master's of science from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
In 2012, Montalván's inspirational memoir won the USA Best Book Award in the Autobiography / Memoir and Audiobook Non-fiction categories. Later that year, Luis was a finalist for an APA Audie Award beside four other nominees including Tina Fey and Michael Moore. At the 2012 International Latino Book Awards, "Until Tuesday" received finalist honors. Luis is the recipient of a 2011 Voice Award and 2011 Invisible Hero Honors Award for his efforts to educate the public about trauma and the real experiences of veterans and all people with disabilities.
Montalván is a vocal advocate. His work has been featured in outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, and San Francisco Chronicle, and he regularly appears on local, national, and global media. These include NPR, CNN, National Geographic and The Late Show with David Letterman.
"Tuesday Tucks Me In," their first children's book (Macmillan), was selected by Amazon.com as the "Best Nonfiction Children's Book of 2014." In 2015, the Children's Book Council and the National Council for the Social Studies selected it a "Notable Social Studies Book for Young People." On June 27, "Tuesday Tucks Me In" won three 2015 International Latino Book Awards.
