Daily Devotions: Walking Daily in the New Testament and Proverbs
Make your daily devotional reading simple and organized.
The New Testament gives you an up-close-and-personal glimpse at the life of Jesus.
The Gospels present a testimony of the miracle of His birth, the impact of His life, and the power of His death & resurrection.
The succeeding New Testament books offer a deeper reflection of Jesus Christ and the ministry we, as His followers, are called to.
The book of Proverbs is known as the “Book of Wisdom” because it provides instructions on how to live happily, successfully, and victoriously. It is jam-packed with tips, advice, and insight that if applied can change your relationships, attitudes, and life.
The Plan is Simple.
There are 89 chapters in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. By reading one chapter of the Gospels each day, and then two chapters of the rest of the New Testament (Acts – Revelation) for a total of three chapters per day, you will go through the New Testament in just 89 Days.
This plan is called "The cell rule of Optina." The monks of the Optina Monastery enter into a daily Scripture discipline: one chapter from the Gospels and two chapters from the rest of the New Testament, reading daily in order beginning with the book of Acts and ending with the last chapter of Revelation.

About the Author

Brad Haven
I just love digital. Well, I love the convenience of digital.
Music, books, and pictures have all gone digital, and I think it is a wonderful thing!
Music
I remember in 1974 thinking how very cool I was when I installed an 8-track-player in my first car, a 1963 Ford Falcon. I was able to play the latest and greatest music from the Jesus Movement, such as Love Song by Chuck Girard and many other Maranatha! Music bands.
But very soon after my new 8-track-player was installed, technology changed.
The 8-track-player was replaced with the smaller and easier-to-use cassette player. So I upgraded my ‘63 Ford Falcon with a cassette player stereo.
Cassettes were great as they were smaller and more convenient. But if you left them on the dash in a hot car, they would warp and never work again. Also, if you had small children, they would love to put their little fingers into the small opening and pull the tape out of the cassette.
Now with digital, I have over one thousand songs that can all fit on my computer or smartphone.
Pictures
Wow, has digital changed pictures. I remember spending a lot of money on purchasing film and getting the film developed. Now all my pictures are digital (over 14,000), and they are so convenient. Also, sharing pictures with family and friends has never been easier.
Books
Recently, I was reminded of why I love to read books on my Kindle. There was a book I wanted to read, and my wife found it in the local library (free is a great price). She kindly checked it out for me, and I enjoyed reading it. But holding the book in bed reminded me why I like my Kindle. The book gets heavy after a while! Also, when I read a book on my Kindle, I am also able to read the same book on my smartphone when I am on the go and have a few extra minutes.
So yes, I love the convenience of digital.
Because I think digital is so convenient and helpful, I want to share the digital products that I know will be a blessing to you.
My wife and I are blessed to live in the central part California. We live in the same house that we raised our four children in, with one still at home.
One of the blessings of living in the central valley is that in just two hours we can be in the most beautiful places on earth.
If we go east, we end up in Yosemite National Park. If we go west, we visit Monterey and the Pacific Ocean coastline.
We know we are very blessed.
I hope the convenience of digital will be a blessing to you also!
God bless you,
Brad Haven
